The company you keep...

Iman (faith) is strongest when you are around other sincere believers. This is why there are many hadith that mention you are of the religion of your friends. Our closest friends are only a reflection of our own selves.

The spiritual life is greater than the physical life

Our physical body will eventually reach its peak and die.  Our soul on the other hand (though it may taste death) will live on past the limiting confines of this Earth.  So, why wouldn't we invest in that which will develop our spiritual life, our true life?

It's the little things...

Shaytan (Satan) has given up trying to attack man on big things. His plan is to divide our ummah on small things... to excite enmity and hatred between us...to hinder us from the remembrance of Allah.

Even during a month where we devote ourselves to the remembrance and worship of our Lord, we often remain divided over when the month should start or how many rakah should be prayed in Tarawih prayers. Its the little things...

And if you believe shaytan is "locked/chained up" during this month have no doubt that the scheme's of shaytan are still at work. Combat the schemes of Satan with Taqwa!

Reflections...

Bismillah

The first, inshAllah, in a series of short reflections that will come straight from whatever is on my mind for the moment or day. Hopefully they will be of some benefit


Here we go...


Allah speaks in the Qur'an about men who mislead others by their "appetites unchecked by knowledge". Pause. Now, reflect on that.


How many examples can you think of where someone has mislead others, following his/her own desires, unvalidated by any real knowledge? You have to ask yourself this question too...am I guilty of this ...leading others by my own desires, irregardless of real knowledge???


Knowledge comes from G-d, so why not check your desires with that which G-d wants/commands for you.
