According to one believer:
"In Brooklyn, at Pratt Institute, sometime around early 1980 (it was during the Atlanta Child murders and also IWDM was sponsored by Imam Siraj, who was still in our community), Imam W.D.M., in a lecture, stated that he would be happy to run for the Presidency.
It was in answer to a question from the audience, regarding the then proposed NBIP (National Black Independent Party). He stated that " sure, if they nominate me, I would gladly run.."
He also elaborated this later in an interview in Al Qalam magazine, and in lectures in Chicago's masjid, when asked, stated that we should vote for him, write him in, if we were undecided. "
I don't think it was too much of an organized effort regarding this, and shortly after Jesse Jackson announced his candidacy.
But, the video is just for laughs. I would have put my own name up but I saw a better qualified person ;-)
