STAND AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

I was very shocked this weekend to discover the arrest of the Bridges TV Founder, Muzzammil Hassan, for the murder and beheading of his wife!  Many of the students and followers of Imam W. D. Mohammed have always supported Bridges TV since their founding.

What is very unfortunate is the fact that people will negatively view this situation as a reflection of the religion of Islam.
"Never should a believer kill a believer, except when by mistake... (Holy Qur'an 4:92)"
For someone to make such a strong stance and effort to combat Muslim stereotypes through his network's programing really jumped off on the deep end with this brutal attack on his wife.  This is so far away from Islamic values and teachings some scholars would even go so far as to say that when a Muslim murders another Muslim he is considered an unbeliever.

The bigger picture here is that his actions may arguably reflect a cultural influence (the beheading) but DOES NOT reflect upon any teachings and beliefs of Islam.  Even the domestic violence that allegedly led up to this should not be linked to or associated as a habit just of Muslims.
"Domestic abuse knows no boundaries. It occurs among well known and little known community members, the rich, the poor, the well-educated and uneducated, foreign-born and American-born, all cultures, racial and religious groups-including Muslim converts and non-converts..."
Many of us were shocked to hear about Chris Brown and Rihanna.  Not only are they celebrities but they are young (not to far from teenagers). That should tell you that this epidemic can creep up anywhere.

"Three to four million women are beaten annually and every 15 seconds a woman is abused in her home..."

AS BELIEVERS, AS HUMANS, we must take a stand against domestic violence.

"O ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well- acquainted with all that ye do. (Holy Qur'an, 4:135) "

Man... I completely missed out on this memo until today. I am really disturbed and saddened by this. Its like setting Islam back to before Hijrah. This is not just unIslamic, unAmerican, unHuman-like.... its just simply barbaric!!!
